Daylight Saving and Public Holidays in the ACT


The ACT's Daylight Saving arrangements are in line with New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

The Daylight Saving period in the ACT commences on the first Sunday in October and finishes on the first Sunday in April.

**Monday, 27 April 2020 has been declared a public holiday for all Canberrans by the Minister for Employment and Workplace Safety. The 27 April 2020 public holiday is in addition to the ANZAC Day public holiday on 25 April 2020.
***As 26 December (Boxing Day) falls on a Saturday in 2020, there is an additional public holiday on the Monday.
****The Holidays Act 1958 also provides for bank holidays in the ACT. In addition to the above public holidays, there is a bank holiday on the first Monday in August. Bank holidays do not apply to everyone. Employers and employees are advised to check the Holidays Act 1958 for all bank holidays and refer to their relevant Enterprise Agreement or Award.
