HEALTHIER ME physical activity and lifestyle program

The Workplace Safety and Industrial Relations Division of the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate, in conjunction with the Canberra Institute of Technology (Fit & Well Centre) is pleased to offer the above program to anyone employed in the ACT Public Sector who is at risk of developing, or currently living with, diabetes or other chronic conditions.

HEALTHIER ME is an eight week program, which involves physical activity and lifestyle modification sessions. The program will help you to improve your health through physical activity and will provide you with lifestyle and nutrition education to meet your needs.

Classes are run twice weekly - starting slowly and building up throughout the eight weeks. Classes are safe, fun and supportive and include aerobic and resistance style training as well as lifestyle and nutrition education. HEALTHIER ME is a group-based program, providing you with the benefits of exercising with others.
Age is no barrier to participating. The program is designed to meet your personal needs and can be modified according to your level of fitness and capabilities.

To ensure safety and ongoing good health during the program, participants will require a medical clearance from their general practitioner to participate, and an initial assessment from the CIT Fit & Well Centre.
