Tourism Demand-Driver Infrastructure Program

In July 2014, Australian State and Territory Tourism Ministers endorsed a set of overarching principles and a funding mechanism for the new Tourism Demand-Driver Infrastructure (TDDI) Program. In doing so the Commonwealth provided $43.1 million over four years to the States and Territories for the development of tourism infrastructure.

Of this $3.075 million has been made available to the ACT Government over a period of four years (2014-18), administered via VisitCanberra.

The TDDI Program provides monetary investment on a matched dollar-for-dollar basis, to develop tourism infrastructure, ensuring that the benefits of any government investment can be multiplied across the sector. Partnership Program

The LDA and the Master Builders Association (in association with Renaissance Homes and other sponsor agencies) developed the Deakin Charity House Project. The Charity House Project delivered two house and land packages to market for auction in late 2016, the net proceeds were distributed to local charities supporting people with a disability. The project was based on:

  • showcasing adaptability features
  • good design including solar orientation, efficient use of space and light
  • selection of materials which maintain a balance of amenity and low lifetime cost
  • inclusions that provide high efficiency ratings for energy and water appliances.
