Directorate: TCCS

Issue: Many drivers are unaware of the pedestrian crossing at Telopea Park School. Are there ways to increase its visibility?

Outcome: An officer from TCCS contacted the called and explained that the crossing was new and had been installed before the end of the school term. Roads ACT have been on site on several occasions to observe how the crossing is functioning and have not observed any unsafe behaviours from drivers or pedestrians. The officer explained that it can take a few weeks for drivers to adjust to a changed road environment.

Issue: Accountability of the Public Trustee

Outcome: The caller was contacted and provided with advice.


Directorate: TCCS

Issue: Large Gum Tree in Kaleen (Turrell Circuit) – concerns about safety.

Outcome: An officer from TCCS contacted the caller to discuss the issue. The officer will continue efforts to reach the caller and will endeavour to inspect the tree in question upon receipt of further information.

Issue: Busses serviced reduced in Narrabundah, particularly Captain Cook Crescent.

Outcome: The Route 5 will no longer be serviced in the new timetable. However, Route 4 now travels through Narrabundah to Canberra Factory Outlet Centre, Fyshwick and to the City via Manuka, Kingston, Barton and King Edward Terrace. These changes will improve access to high frequency public transport to South Canberra with the introduction of the Green Rapid (route 6) while ensuring that residents continue to have access to high levels of public transport, including routes that service the same streets and stops, seven days a week.

Issue: What's happening with Callam offices in Woden being turned into a community hub/centre arts facility for the Woden community. A report on the possible refurbishment and upgrade done a couple of years ago hasn't been released by the government

Outcome: An EPSDD official called the constituent and advised on the status of the report. They informed the constituent that the decision on the report’s release date is has not been made the directorate will send a copy of the report directly once the report has been released.

Issue: Curtin shops – uncertainty around redevelopment is affecting business confidence.

Outcome: An officer from EPSDD called the constituent and provided responses to the concerns raised.  The constituent was happy with the call.


Directorate: TCCS

Issue: Concerns about people storing multiple broken cars in their front yard.

Outcome: An officer from TCCS contacted the constituent in the week commencing 9 October 2017 and discussed the issue. The officer found that a vehicle was placed on the nature strip, which is not permitted under the Public Unleased Land Act 2013, and multiple vehicles were being stored within the private lease. The officer from TCCS then contacted the occupant of the lease in question and was assured occupant is vacating the property by the end of October 2017.

Issue: Sustained an injury after falling on footbath disrupted by tree roots. Western bike path of Florey (adjacent to Southern Cross Drive) Needs to be repaired

Outcome: An officer from TCCS contacted the constituent on 11 October 2017. Work has been programed and issued to a contractor. Work is expected to be completed before end November 2017.
