Fleet Maintenance Vacancies with Transport Canberra

Released 26/06/2018

Transport Canberra is growing with 80 new buses soon to join our fleet. Maintaining that fleet is an essential part of our operations. Applications will soon be open for people interested in becoming a heavy vehicle apprentice with Transport Canberra.

“It’s an exciting time to join Transport Canberra. People often think of bus drivers when they hear about Transport Canberra, but we have a whole Fleet Maintenance team that service and maintain our buses. We couldn’t provide the services that we do without our Fleet Maintenance team” Ian McGlinn Director, Public Transport, said today.

“Over the next 12 months, we will be looking to recruit full-time heavy vehicle mechanics, apprentices and Australian School Based Apprentices (ASBA) as well as Trades Assistants, Panel Trades and Vehicle Cleaner Fuellers.

“Transport Canberra is a great place to work. We’re looking to recruit people with a commitment to contributing to the public transport experience for our community.

“We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage both women and men from all cultural backgrounds, including Indigenous backgrounds, to apply.

“Our apprenticeship program provides everything you need to know about heavy vehicle maintenance. The training is extensive and Transport Canberra gives everyone the chance to learn something new.”

Transport Canberra currently has eleven apprentices taking part in the program. Three apprentices will complete their apprenticeship this year.

People interested in opportunities within the Fleet Services division of Transport Canberra are strongly encouraged to attend our information session. The information session will provide an overview of Transport Canberra’s fleet maintenance, explain the application process and outline the training provided during apprenticeships and ASBA’s.

There will also be an opportunity to meet current Fleet Services employees. Bookings for the information session are essential and must be received by 10 am, Wednesday 4 July.
