Recycling Drop Off Centre at West Belconnen to close from 1 February ahead of future development

Released 30/01/2018

The ACT Government wishes to advise that on 1 February 2018 the Recycling Drop Off Centre (RDOC) at the West Belconnen Resource Management Centre will be permanently closed to the public.

The site is being closed for public safety including unsafe access and egress points. This closure comes ahead of the full closure of the West Belconnen Resource Management Centre over the next 12-24 months to facilitate the remediation of the site ahead of land release as part of the Ginninderry development.

The oil drop-off facility at this location which was temporarily closed in September 2017 will also be permanently closed at this time.

The closest alternative RDOC is located on Jolly Street in Belconnen and this site can comfortably handle any additional volume of material from the RDOC at the West Belconnen Resource Management Centre. Additional RDOCs are also available at Baillieu Court in Mitchell, O’Brien Place in Gungahlin and the Mitchell Resource Management Centre on Flemington Road.

Alternate oil drop-off facilities are available at the Mitchell Resource Management Centre on Flemington Road and the Mugga Lane Resource Management Centre on Mugga Lane.
