Temporary road closures for Big Canberra Bike Ride 2018

The ACT Government will put temporary traffic arrangements in place on Sunday 18 February 2018 to support Pedal Power ACT’s 2018 Big Canberra Bike Ride.

Closure locations and times

The following road will be closed from 6 am to 9.30 am:

  • Both directions of Lady Denman Drive between Forest Drive and the Parkes Way entry/exit ramps at Clunies Ross Street.

The following road will be closed from 6 am to 11 am:

  • Parkes Way westbound between Kings Avenue and the Glenloch Interchange.

The following roads will be closed from 6.45 am to 8 am:

  • William Hovell Drive westbound between Coulter Drive and Coppins Crossing Road.
  • Coppins Crossing southbound between William Hovell Drive and John Gorton Drive.

There will be no access to Black Mountain Peninsula. If you are looking for an alternative picnicking spot, why not try one of our many parks and recreation areas throughout Canberra including John Knight Memorial Park, Bowen Park, Acton Park, Grevillea Park, Molonglo Reach, Corroboree Park, Lennox Gardens or Weston Park. There will be access from Forest Drive along Lady Denman Drive for those members of the public and staff who wish to visit the Burrunju Aboriginal Corporation Art Gallery and Café.

Barriers as well as warning and diversion signs will be erected to alert people to the closure. Motorists are advised to follow detour signs.

Motorists and other road users should also note that the National Multicultural Festival is on this weekend in the City. A number of road and car park closures are in place. If you need to access the City Centre, we encourage using public transport.
