Upcoming temporary road closures on Cotter Road

Released 20/03/2018

Motorists are advised that road closures on Cotter Road between McCulloch Street and Kirkpatrick Street/Dargie Street will be in place over the next week as the duplication of Cotter Road between McCulloch Street and Streeton Drive progresses towards completion.

These closures are required for asphalting works on the eastbound and westbound carriageways of Cotter Road which will occur in two stages.

Location and timing of temporary road closures

To minimise impact to motorists, this work will be carried out as night works from 9.30 pm to 6 am from Tuesday 20 March to Sunday 25 March 2018. To further minimise impacts, works will be carried out in two stages.

Stage 1: Eastbound closure

  • Cotter Road eastbound between Kirkpatrick Street and the entrance to the Curtin Budget Motel.
  • Tuggeranong Parkway southbound off-ramp to Cotter Road.

Stage 2: Westbound closure

  • Cotter Road westbound between McCulloch Street and Dargie Street.
  • Tuggeranong Parkway northbound off-ramp to Cotter Road.

Detours

During the closures motorists will be directed to alternative routes along the Tuggeranong Parkway, Hindmarsh Drive, Streeton Drive and Lady Denman Drive. More information on detours are available under ‘Latest News’ on our homepage at www.tccs.act.gov.au. Access will be maintained for local traffic at all times.

Effects on traffic

  • Minor delays are expected.
  • Barriers as well as warning and diversion signs will be erected to alert people to the closure.
  • Drivers are asked to be mindful of the changed traffic arrangements and adhere to the work zone speed limits.

The ACT Government apologises for the inconvenience and thanks everyone for their patience whilst this important work takes place.

The duplication of Cotter Road between McCulloch Street and Streeton Drive remains on track to be completed in April 2018 (weather permitting). Once complete this upgrade will significantly increase traffic capacity and safety for drivers and other road users.
