Road users and pedestrians are advised that closures on Kate Crace Street between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Efkarpidis Street will be in place from tomorrow as work continues on the extension of Ernest Cavanagh Street.
The ACT Government is creating a safer, more vibrant, better connected town centre for the people of Gungahlin. The extension of Ernest Cavanagh Street will provide one lane of traffic in each direction, footpaths on both sides of the road, pedestrian crossings and on street parking bays. These temporary road closures are required to allow for construction of a shared services trench across Kate Crace Street.
Location and timing of temporary road closures
Northbound and southbound closures will be in place on Kate Crace Street from Thursday 12 July to Tuesday 24 July 2018. There will be no access for road users or pedestrians. To minimise impacts, these closures have been coordinated with other projects currently underway to ensure access is maintained in the Gungahlin Town Centre.
Northbound closure
- Kate Crace Street between Efkarpidis Street and Anthony Rolfe Avenue.
Southbound closure
- Kate Crace Street between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Flemington Road.
Detours
During the closures, road users travelling along Anthony Rolfe Avenue and The Valley Avenue will be detoured via Manning Clark Crescent. Pedestrian detours will be in place via Hinder Street.
Effects on traffic
- Minor delays are expected.
- Barriers as well as warning and diversion signs will be erected to alert people to the closure.
- Drivers are asked to be mindful of the changed traffic arrangements and adhere to the work zone speed limits.
