Tharwa Drive to reopen today
Tharwa Drive will be re-opened for normal traffic by 4pm today, before the peak hour commute gets underway, Minister for Police and Emergency Services Joy Burch has announced.
"I am delighted that the contractor installing the sewer main to our new Fire and Rescue station in South Tuggeranong has been able to finish the major works on schedule, allowing Tharwa Drive to reopen today," Ms Burch said.
"I know that residents of Lanyon Valley have experienced frustration and delays while these necessary works have been carried out, and I thank them for their patience and understanding.
"The new sewer main line has now been successfully installed underneath Tharwa Drive and the road can be reopened.
"Minor road works will be finalised over the coming days, but these will be done outside of peak hour to minimise any further delays.
"Once again, I would like to thank the local community for their patience during these road works, which were necessary to help deliver a new Fire and Rescue station to keep our community safe.
"I look forward to meeting the community at the Open Day to be held at the new station when it opens later this year."
