Applications are now open for the Participation Grant Program for the 2020 National Multicultural Festival. A total of $85,000 will be directed toward initiatives that promote community participation, cultural diversity and inclusion at the Festival
“The Participation Grant Program provides funding to ACT based community organisations to participate, celebrate, and showcase their respective cultural traditions and heritage, through language, music, dance, cultural displays and food,” Minister Steel said.
“This year over 200,000 people attended the Festival and the ACT Government wants to assist our amazing local multicultural community groups to be able to perform to the local, national and international audiences that will attend.”
Applying for a Participation Grant is a great way for local community organisations to be part of the fun at the 2020 Festival.
Eligible organisations can apply for grants to:
- showcase the vibrancy and heritage of multiculturalism through celebrations and events at the 2020 National Multicultural Festival;
- foster cross-cultural awareness, understanding, respect, community groups and intercultural relationships; and
- enable ACT multicultural communities to celebrate, preserve and share traditions and heritage through cultural performances (dance and music) and in other meaningful ways.
Last year, over 80 recipients used their funding for a wide range of projects including costumes, art materials and tools, the Children's Sanctuary and festival broadcasting technical support.
Applications are scheduled to close at 5pm Monday 5 August 2019. For details and guidelines on the Participation (National Multicultural Festival) Grant Program, please visit: www.communityservices.act.gov.au/multicultural/programs/grants
