Belco Bikeway stage two starts rolling

Released 12/06/2022 - Joint media release

Construction has kicked off on stage two of the Belconnen bikeway along Battye Street in Bruce – delivering on an election commitment for more active travel infrastructure.

The dedicated bikeway will better connect the C3 principal cycle route from Belconnen Town Centre through to the University of Canberra, Radford College and the Canberra Institute of Technology's Bruce campus.

Key features of the second stage:

  • A new off-road cycle path along the eastern side of Haydon Drive from College Street towards Purdie Street (linking in with the first stage of works).
  • An off-road cycleway on the northern side of Battye Street from Haydon Drive for the length of the road.

The Belconnen Bikeway extension will build on the first stage of works completed in 2020, which begins on Coulter Drive in Florey and continues along Joynton Smith Drive to the Belconnen Town Centre.

The first phase of construction works will be a section of the off-road cycleway on the northern side of Battye Street, from Haydon Drive to Braybrooke Street.

The Belconnen Bikeway Project is jointly funded by the Australian Government and ACT Government.
