Calling heritage-minded Canberrans to join Albert Hall reference group

Released 20/03/2017

The ACT Government is seeking expressions of interest from interested members of the community to join an Albert Hall advisory reference group by Friday 7 April 2017.

ACT Property Group Director, Garry Gordon, said the group will advise government on the maintenance, priorities and development of this iconic building.

“This heritage-listed site deserves to be nurtured and suitably managed to ensure it remains a vibrant, functional space that can be enjoyed by future generations,” Mr Gordon said.

“Albert Hall has been a much-loved Canberra landmark in Yarralumla since 1928 and is used by a variety of Canberrans for many purposes.”

This new reference group is being established as a result of the 2016 Land Management Plan, to ensure a balanced representation from the community, heritage groups as well as users of the building.

Anyone in the ACT with an interest in the future of Albert Hall is encouraged to express their interest in joining the group. The positions are voluntary and do not attract remuneration.

Nominations should be submitted by Friday 7 April 2017. Application forms are available from www.economicdevelopment.act.gov.au/venues/albert-hall/albert-hall-reference-group
