Tickets to Canberra’s first International Test Cricket match on sale now

Released 08/06/2018

Tickets are now on sale for Canberra’s first international test match at Manuka Oval on 1-5 February 2019.

“Our first international test match between Australia and Sri Lanka is an important event in our city’s sporting history,” said Venues Canberra Director, Liz Clarke.

“The Government has worked with Cricket Australia and Cricket ACT to bring more international cricket to our city over the past few years. We have upgraded Manuka Oval so we can continue catering for these events, including the new Manuka media centre which will be available for the test match.

“It’s wonderful that we can give Canberra kids and young up and coming cricketers the opportunity to see the world’s best and some of their heroes up close, here in their own backyard.”

All Canberrans will be given the opportunity to be a part of this history-making moment which is why there will be no club or social cricket played during the Test Match. This means the whole cricketing community, including the players, volunteers and match officials won’t have to choose between fulfilling local cricket commitments and attending the game.

The ACT Government is excited to be bringing top quality sports fixtures to Canberra and this Test is just one example of what is yet to come. Manuka Oval will play host to a range of international matches this summer starting with the Women’s Twenty20 International between Australia and New Zealand on October 5, and the annual Prime Ministers XI between Australia and South Africa returning to a one day format on October 31.

“It’s not just the cricketing community which will benefit from this match. Thousands of fans from across the country and even overseas will flock to the ACT which will drive tourism to the region and provide an incredible boost to our hospitality, retail and hotel industries,” said Mrs Clarke.
