Thirty-one scholarships worth a total of $250,000 are now available for people who are already enrolled or are considering enrolling in a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch announced today.
"The ACT Government is offering 31 Early Childhood (Certificate III) Scholarships in 2015 to help individuals who want to work in the early childhood education and care sector and meet the minimum qualification requirements," Ms Burch said.
"The ACT Government recognises the importance of childhood development and is dedicated to enhancing our already excellent services.
"This is in line with the ACT Government's election commitment to help people increase qualifications in early childhood education. Since the program was announced in 2012, to date more than 100 scholarships have been awarded."
The Early Childhood (Certificate III) Scholarship will help educators with all course fees paid, a start up and completion incentive payment and employer incentives to cover students to study or attend classes.
"It is part of our commitment to the National Quality Framework requirement for services to employ educators either holding or studying towards a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care as a minimum.
"Through these scholarships and the hard work of our current and future educators, parents can feel confident leaving their child in a learning environment surrounded by qualified educators."
Applications for scholarships open February 13 and close on March 13 2015. For more information visit http://www.det.act.gov.au/childrens_policy_and_regulation or contact the Scholarships Program Manager on 6207 1104.
