Are you ready? ACT Fire & Rescue jobs drive

Released 20/11/2018

Canberrans who are ready, willing and able to be the ACT’s future firefighters are being targeted by ACT Fire & Rescue’s new recruitment campaign.

The ACT’s firefighters must be physically and mentally prepared and I’m pleased that the new advertising campaign’s ‘Ready. Willing. Able’ tagline highlights what ACT Fire & Rescue are looking for in new recruits.

ACT Fire & Rescue receives many applications from Canberrans who are passionate about pursuing careers as firefighters, but unfortunately many are underprepared to successfully pass the physical and written assessments.

As part of the campaign, ACT Fire & Rescue will host a series of Career Information Sessions, Come & Try days and practice ‘BEEP test’ exercises to help candidates test their skills and learn what they need to do to become ready, willing and able.

Applications for the 2019 recruitment round open on 4 February 2019 but this proactive approach will help prospective applicants get ready for what’s in store.

A range of video resources and links to book into the preparation sessions are available on the ACT Fire & Rescue website.

If you are looking for a career with meaningful challenges and a rewarding lifestyle, begin preparing now to become an ACT Fire & Rescue firefighter. Women and people from culturally diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are especially encouraged to consider a career as a firefighter.
