Virtual reality bringing nature to everyone

Released 13/09/2019

People of all ages, ability and locations can experience walking, kayaking and riding through our unique environment with the ACT Government’s latest virtual reality initiative.

The ParksVR project enables people with disability or limited mobility to explore our parks and reserves, demonstrating our commitment to digital inclusion.

Short virtual reality videos showcase our region’s most scenic locations such as Namadgi National Park and Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. Viewers will feel like they are there as our ACT Parks and Conservation rangers guide them through exciting activities.

You can take a kayak ride on the Murrumbidgee River or head out on a mountain bike adventure in the Canberra Nature Park.

Get into the koala enclosure at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and learn about these iconic Australian animals or walk up Booroomba rocks and check out the spectacular views.

The project is also looking to boost local tourism by showcasing the ACT to people who are thinking about visiting Canberra from other parts of Australia and across the globe.

ParksVR also provides educational opportunity to engage with culturally and environmentally sensitive sites.

Immerse yourself in these amazing experiences on the ParksVR Youtube.
