Are you a future ACT firefighter?

Released 31/08/2020

Applications for the next ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) recruitment round open today as the ACT Government delivers more firefighters to keep Canberra safe.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Mick Gentleman said candidates had the opportunity to join one of the most multi-skilled fire and rescue services in Australia.

“The ACT Government is prioritising the health and wellbeing of ACT firefighters and is investing in 99 new firefighters over the next five years,” Minister Gentleman said.

“If you are looking for a varied role where you are supported and provided a rewarding and flexible lifestyle, a career as an ACT Fire & Rescue firefighter could be for you.”

Following a competitive recruitment process, the successful applicants will secure a position on one of two ACT Fire & Rescue Recruit Colleges scheduled for early and mid 2021.

A/g ACT Fire & Rescue Chief Officer Chris Zeithhofer said “ACTF&R is seeking motivated and community-minded individuals who are looking for a unique challenge”.

“It’s important candidates prepare themselves as best they can for the recruitment process. A range of video resources and information on how to best prepare for the fitness and aptitude tests are available on the ACT Fire & Rescue website.”
