Want a call back? Access Canberra is on it.

Released 30/08/2018

More than 3000 Canberrans have been helped through the Access Canberra’s new call back service.

Minister for Business and Regulatory Services Gordon Ramsay said the new service, where people can choose to receive a same day call back rather than wait on the line, was trialled in March this year and has now been expanded.

“The call back service is just another way Access Canberra is making it simpler and easier for the community to transact with government. It is already proving a great success, with more than 3000 call backs completed in since March,” he said.

“This is in addition to the 8300 calls the team answers each week to help our community to get the information they need.

“Through the recent Budget the Government has funded five additional five staff for the Contact Centre to implement call backs and reduce wait times.

“The introduction of the call back service and the additional staff in the Access Canberra Contact Centre have already had an impressive service response with the current average wait time for callers being under three minutes - and a short 40 seconds for priority lines (such as reporting work safety incidents, dog attacks or injured wildlife).”

Minister Ramsay said the community may not be aware that the Contact Centre Team also answers questions and provides information through the Access Canberra’s website web chat function.

“Each week the team does more than 250 web chats, which is a great way for community members to get information they need quickly – while saving themselves a phone call,” he said.

“The Access Canberra website also has more than 330 services and transactions can be completed online from, the comfort of home – or from the other side of the world!

“I’d like to thank the Access Canberra Contact Centre team for the important work they do each day in supporting and connecting our community,” he concluded.
