Farewell 2019 at New Year’s Eve in the City

Welcome in the New Year with a free event in Civic Square!

Come along, grab something to eat from one of the many tantalising food trucks onsite and then sit back, relax and enjoy great live entertainment topped off with two amazing New Year’s Eve fireworks displays at 9pm and midnight.

With something for everyone, New Year’s in the City music will kick off from 6:30pm with family entertainment, The Beanies, followed by two Canberran singer/songwriters, MAXO and then Rhythm & Girl energising the crowd leading into the 9pm fireworks.

After 9pm the celebrations shift gear as locals’ countdown to midnight with live music from The Cherry Pickers,The Baker Boys and headline act, ASTA. Rising to prominence after winning Triple J's Unearthed High in 2012, ASTA returns to the spotlight with Want You to Know – a song destined to become one of summer’s hits.

Attendees to New Year’s Eve in the City will be able to say thank you and learn more about how they can be bushfire ready with the ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS).

ACTRFS will be at the event from 6pm to provide important advice and distribute bushfire survival plans.

Arrive early and grab a bite for dinner from one of the many food vans open from 6pm. Start off with dinner from Tikka Stand, Suburban Kebabs, Hawker Hero Asian, La Poutine loaded French fries or Bare Bones BBQ and finish off with something sweet from Capital Shaved Ice or Limogela gelato.

This event is alcohol, glass and drone free.

Party till late and ride home safe with Transport Canberra’s Late Night Rapid Services operating until 2am. For more information visit the Transport Canberra website.
