More than 2000 new subsidised training places are now on offer for Canberrans as part of the ACT Government’s Skilled Capital training initiative.
Skills Canberra has today released enrolments for more than 1500 subsidised training places across 37 unique qualifications and more than 600 places in 12 Skill Sets to further upskill the ACT workforce.
Skill Sets are small parts of a qualification which meet a defined industry need.
“Skilled Capital provides the Canberra community with flexible access to quality training in areas where we have skills needs across the ACT,” Minister for Higher Education, Training and Research
Meegan Fitzharris said.
“Excitingly for Canberra’s Higher Education sector, this is the first time funding has extended to Skill Sets.
“Taking on board feedback from industry and employers we have funded a range of Skill Sets to enable workers to broaden their skills to meet industry specific requirements, which in some circumstances are best served by undertaking a selection of competencies rather than a full qualification.”
In this midyear release, Skilled Capital also opens eligibility to some ACT school students to enrol in selected certificate II and III qualifications.
“By expanding the Skilled Capital eligibility we are providing more training options for school students to help them make informed choices about their potential career pathways,” Minister Fitzharris said.
All current qualifications and Skill Sets released in 2017 which currently have places remaining will remain open until the end of the year.
