Congratulations to Return to Work for Women graduates

Released 23/11/2018

A graduation ceremony was held at CIT Tuggeranong today to acknowledge 13 women completing the Return to Work for Women program.

Minister for Vocational Education and Skills Meegan Fitzharris said the Return to Work for Women program is a course designed for women who are looking to re-enter the paid workforce.

“This terrific program brings women together from all over Canberra to build their confidence, update their skills and get back into work after an extended absence,” Ms Fitzharris said.

“CIT’s strong industry partnerships with a variety of organisations provides great opportunities for valuable work experience which can often lead to employment.

“The course has seen great success over recent years, with a 90 per cent completion rate and with approximately 76 per cent of graduates going on to employment or further training in an area of interest. Business Administration and Community Work have been areas of particular interest for this semester’s cohort.

“If you've been out of the workforce for a while, this could be the right first step for you to help regain your confidence, brush up on your professional skills and learn computing and digital literacy skills to improve your chances of successfully re-entering the workforce.”

Students find this course a valuable and fun experience as they hear from a range of guest speakers, learn practical skills, update their referees and professional knowledge and learn with each other in a supportive environment.
