Second round of Adult Community Education Grants

Released 07/05/2019

Applications have opened for Round 2 of the 2019 ACT Adult Community Education (ACE) Grants Program.

To mark its 21st anniversary, the ACE program was refreshed in 2019, with successful projects now able to access more and longer-term funding.

“The re-shaped program strengthens adult community education and supports better outcomes for participants,” Minister for Vocational Education and Skills Meegan Fitzharris said.

“The projects supported by these grants improve access to work-related learning for Canberrans who face complex barriers to participation in learning or work.

“Providers of adult community education offer supportive learning opportunities in welcoming, informal, community-based environments.”

The second round follows a successful first round which saw $350,000 provided to seven projects:

  • Intensive Support Program (UnitingCare Kippax)
  • Kippax Pathways for CALD Disability Workers (UnitingCare Kippax)
  • SOS (Surviving Out Side) Program (Tjillari Justice Aboriginal Corporation
  • Youth Employment Pathways Hub (Belconnen Community Service)
  • Foundation Workplace English and Communication Program (Migrant and Refugee Settlement Services of the ACT)
  • English for Work Entry Program (Migrant and Refugee Settlement Services of the ACT)
  • Stepping Up: CALD Adults Learning Workplace Computer and English Skills (Support Asian Women’s Friendship Association)

In this new round, which closes on 3 June 2019, providers can apply for grants of up to $50,000 for individual projects and $100,000 for joint projects.

“We’re proud to be working in partnership with local community organisations, helping them to support Canberrans to get into education or the workforce,” said Minister Fitzharris.

The guidelines and application form for the 2019 Adult Community Education Grants are available at www.skills.act.gov.au/grants. Applications close on 3 June 2019.
