Conversations for Dickson’s future continue

Released 06/09/2018 - Joint media release

The second stage of community engagement for Section 72 kicks off today, continuing discussions on how we shape the future of this important part of Dickson.

Dickson Section 72 is a precinct that will provide more community facilities and more private and social housing for the inner north community.

This includes Canberra’s second Common Ground, an ACT Labor election commitment which offers housing services to homeless and low-income individuals and families.

Earlier this year, the ACT Government heard from inner north residents and the wider community about their aspirations for Dickson.

The first stage of engagement told us there is support for people to live in an area close to the services at the Dickson group centre.  There was also support for more community facilities in the inner north.

Following feedback from the first stage of engagement, two design scenarios have been developed that show how the future of Dickson Section 72 might take shape.

The Government will now work with the community on these scenarios and look closely at how best to shape future land uses and public spaces at Section 72.

Consultation will include an Open House workshop, face to face conversations and a survey on the YourSay website.

For more information on the Dickson Section 72 engagement dates and to have your say, visit www.yoursay.act.gov.au. Engagement closes on Friday 26 October 2018.
