SHOUT launches Web of Support

Released 22/05/2018

It was a pleasure to officially launch Self Help Organisations United Together’s (SHOUT) Web of Support portal, a virtual support network for self-help organisations across the ACT.

SHOUT and its member organisations and volunteers have made a significant contribution to the Canberra community for a number of years.

I’m pleased the web portal will offer a new form of support to self-help organisations by providing a central point of information.

The web portal will assist new and existing support networks and self-help groups to improve their governance structures, and in turn improve the support they provide to their communities.

This will mean access to resources, policies, procedures, governance documentation and road maps to develop and maintain a support structure.

The Web of Support is a great way to further extend the reach of information and linkages to people seeking to improve their quality of life through support networks and self-help groups.

SHOUT’s Web of Support portal is funded by the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) Jurisdictional Grants through the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

On Sunday, the ACT Government announced that SHOUT will receive ongoing base funding in this year’s ACT Budget. This funding recognises the important work SHOUT does as core social infrastructure and will ensure the organisation continues to go from strength to strength.
