Grants support Canberrans to make the healthy choice

Released 06/11/2019

The ACT Government is investing more than $1.7 million dollars across ten community programs, to encourage people to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles and create supportive environments for this to happen.

The funding is part of the latest round of Healthy Canberra Grants, continuing the Government’s emphasis on supporting healthy ageing, reducing alcohol-related and smoking-related harm and reducing overweight and obesity in the community.

“The ACT Government is supporting Canberrans to prioritise healthy decision-making by investing in programs that make the healthy choice, the easy choice,” Minister for Health Rachel Stephen-Smith said.

“Through these grants we are continuing our investment in targeted programs that will make a real difference to the positive health and wellbeing of our community, which is a priority for the Government.

“The knowledge, skills, resources and relationships of local community groups are invaluable in supporting Canberrans help tackle risk factors that contribute to chronic disease.”

“Each organisation funded through these grants will make a real difference to our community. The programs they will fund will play a significant role in keeping people well and engaged with healthy decision making,” said Minister Stephen-Smith.
