Reconciliation Day 2020 community grants now open

Released 23/10/2019

Applications are now open for funding to support Reconciliation Day 2020 events in the ACT.

“Locally organised events are a key part of Reconciliation Day in Canberra,” Minister Stephen-Smith said.

“A total of $50,000 in grant funding is available to support events that acknowledge and celebrate the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

“Grants are also available for events, seminars and panel discussions on the importance of Reconciliation for all Australians.

“We want to provide opportunities for all Canberrans to be involved in community events that promote Reconciliation.

“The 2019 grants supported great projects, seminars and celebrations hosted by a number of community groups across the ACT.

“The ACT Government is committed to fostering understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culture, recognising our shared history and building a better future together.”

The ACT Reconciliation Council will help assess the applications as part of its role overseeing the program for Reconciliation Day on 1 June 2020.

Applications are now open for individuals and non-profit organisations and close 5pm, Wednesday 27 November 2019.
