Celebrating Young Canberra Citizen of the Year

Released 05/07/2020

Congratulations to all the nominees, finalists and winners from the Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Awards!

The Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Awards  recognise individuals and groups of young people aged between 12 and 25 years who have made a significant contribution to their community.

Minister for Children, Youth and Families Rachel Stephen-Smith said the awards provided a platform to recognise and celebrate Canberra’s young people.

“Canberra is a city full of inspirational and dedicated young people who have a real passion for making positive change. These awards are an opportunity to acknowledge the great work of young Canberrans and the role they play in creating a more inclusive Canberra.

“Rose Clifford, our Young Canberra Citizen of the Year 2020, is a great example of the positive contribution young people make in our community,” said Minister Stephen-Smith.

Rose Clifford is a compassionate and strong role model, who values the importance of supporting others with significant mental health issues in the Canberra community.

Ms Clifford has a strong focus on community services, promoting and implementing mental health and resilience-based programs for young people aged 5 to 25.

Rose has played a pivotal role in the development and delivery of mental health education programs in the ACT reaching over 6,400 individuals.

“Rose is an exceptional role model for young people in the Canberra community and a champion for social consciousness and community service.

"All winners and nominees deserve acknowledgement and praise for their exceptional efforts in our community. They are role models, not only to other young people, but to us all,” said Minister Stephen-Smith.
