Australia’s wind industry now has the option to undertake accredited wind training without leaving our shores with the Canberra Institute of Technology offering new, globally-accredited wind training, Minister for Climate Change and Sustainability Shane Rattenbury and Minister for Higher Education, Training and Research Meegan Fitzharris announced today.
Two training courses approved by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) are now available in the ACT and region.
The basic safety training comprises a five day course which covers modules in first aid, manual handling, fire awareness and working at heights, all considered essential for workers in the large scale wind energy environment.
Basic technical training comprises a four day course that covers modules in wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic disciplines.
CIT will announce additional course opportunities, including basic safety training refreshers for those already within the industry, in the near future.
As part of its winning bid in the ACT’s first wind auction, Neoen, the developer of the Hornsdale Wind Farm, and its partner, Siemens, are supporting the CIT to establish a Renewable Energy Skills Centre for Excellence at CIT.
