EOIs sought for new Clinical Leadership Forum

Released 15/03/2019 - Joint media release

The ACT Government is seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) from clinical experts who wish to be a part of the ACT’s new Clinical Leadership Forum.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing Meegan Fitzharris announced the Clinical Leadership Forum last year as part of a comprehensive approach to steering the continuous improvement of a high performing health system.

“The Clinical Leadership Forum will be responsible for providing independent and expert clinical advice to ministers, with the aim of contributing to the continuous improvement of a high performing health system that keeps people well, provides the best care when required and provides an industry-leading workplace.

“We want our senior health leaders to be more engaged in how we plan and provide public health services, which is increasingly important as our city grows.

“The Forum will be informed and guided by the recommendations of the ACT Health Culture Review and make recommendations to ministers where this relates to improving the clinical operations of the ACT’s health system.

“With the government making significant investments in healthcare over the next few years, this is a great opportunity for clinical leaders within our health system to be help shape our future health services. The Forum will also complement new consultation mechanisms that have already been established or are soon to be established as a result of the Independent Review,” said Minister Fitzharris.

Minister for Mental Health Shane Rattenbury said the forum would be a valuable forum to discuss challenges in areas of the public health system, including mental health services.

“The Forum will provide an opportunity to hear directly from experts in health and to develop strategies that address challenges that affect our workforce and improve our services,” said Minister Rattenbury.

Members will be appointed for a term of two years, with the Forum meeting quarterly.

Applications for the EOI process are due by 12 April 2019.
