The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims will be commemorated this Sunday 17 November 2019. The annual event asks the community to remember the many millions killed and injured on roads all over the world.
“This Sunday I encourage all Canberrans to pause for a moment to remember the 1.35 million people that are killed each year around the world in road traffic accidents, as well as those who have been victims in the ACT,” Minister for Road Safety Shane Rattenbury said today.
“The ACT Government is committed to achieving Vision Zero – where there are no deaths or serious injuries on our road network.
“Nine people died on ACT roads in 2018 and another five people have already lost their lives this year.
“We as a community should not have to endure the heartbreak associated with road trauma. The ACT government is committed to ensuring the ACT has the safest possible environment for all road users, and asks the Canberra community to commit to the same, to behave safely, and to work together make Vision Zero a reality.”
