Budding photographers are reminded they only have two weeks left to enter the National Arboretum's photo competition which closes on Friday 30 January 2015.
The competition, Celebrating Summer at the Arboretum, is open to all ages and offers prize money to help kick start a photography career.
"Since its opening in 2013 we have seen stunning photographs of the National Arboretum Canberra come from professional and amateur photographers alike. The Arboretum offers an array of subjects - from the tranquil beauty of the natural surrounds to the dramatic, award winning architecture," Stephen Alegria, Executive Manager at the National Arboretum said.
"Celebrating summer at the Arboretum is being run by the Friends of the Arboretum and gives visitors an opportunity to share their images and potentially have them displayed at the Arboretum. The Friends of the Arboretum are providing prize money to the winners.
"The competition is family friendly with three age categories. The two younger categories; 12 years or under and high school/college students will both be awarded a first prize and runner up prize of $500 and $250 respectively. The third category; adult, will receive a first prize and runner up prize of $1,000 and $500 respectively.
"The Arboretum, home to rare, endangered and iconic tree species from across the world, is constantly evolving as the trees mature and the seasons change. Guests to the Arboretum find they discover something new with every visit.
"If you haven't already, this is your opportunity to visit one of Canberra's most photogenic treasures and a chance to win a generous prize," Mr Alegria concluded.
