ACT Women's Awards and Women’s Honour Roll 2018

Released 12/01/2018

Nominations are still open for the 2018 ACT Women’s Awards and the ACT Women’s Honour Roll, recognising the achievements of female champions for women in our community and Canberrans are today being reminded to hurry up and get their nominations in before it’s too late!

This year, on behalf of the government and the ACT community, I will be presenting the ACT Women’s Awards and inductees to the ACT Women’s Honour Roll as part of celebrations of International Women’s Day which is held annually in the week of 8 March to recognise women’s achievements throughout history and across nations.

The 2018 ACT Women’s Awards recognise exceptional women in three categories:

  • ACT Woman of the Year;
  • ACT Senior Woman of the Year (60 years plus); and
  • ACT Young Woman of the Year (16 to 25 years).

Recipients of the ACT Women’s Awards will have made outstanding contributions and demonstrated excellence in improving the status and lives of women and girls in the ACT.

This year, I announced that we would be re-establishing the Women’s Honour Roll in a digitized format so that the community can clearly identify and celebrate the great achievements of many Canberra women.

The ACT Women’s Honour Roll will acknowledge significant achievements of women in Canberra. ACT inductees will have contributed to lasting change in the ACT and/or Australia and the world in their area of endeavour.

Areas for nomination include: arts and media; government and politics; police and emergency services; business, industry and workplace relations; human rights, justice and corrections; prevention of family violence; community advocacy and inclusion; health; multicultural affairs; education; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs; science, technology, engineering, mathematics and research; environment; sport and recreation; disability; planning, construction and architecture; and volunteering.

You can nominate to either or both of these awards. Nominations will close on Wednesday 17 January 2018.
