Molonglo Valley Markets open for business this weekend

Released 14/04/2018

Molonglo Valley Markets are open for business this Sunday, with jewellery, homewares and hot coffee all on offer at the Stromlo Cottage.

Local residents Kiran Bhogal and Rebeca Chrzastowski have been eyeing off an opportunity to open a local market since they met just over a year ago.

They approached the Suburban Land Agency through the Mingle program to get the ball rolling and I am pleased to see their plans come to fruition this weekend.

Mingle has supported the pair through their journey to the markets, providing administrative advice, the location for the markets and extra some hands on deck to make it all happen.

Regular, community-focused events like town markets are a great way to build our newest neighbourhoods.

This is just one example of the fantastic work the Mingle program does in our new communities to support residents who want to bring people together.

From Kiran and Bec

“We are very lucky to have found each other because we work so well together and have been able to bring different elements in to our partnership. We are both so excited to see the first event at Stromlo Cottage,” Kiran said.

“We would love to see people enjoying their Sunday mornings having breakfast and a coffee and supporting local businesses. We really believe it is something that is needed in the Molonglo Valley area,” Bec said.

The Molonglo Valley Markets’ first day of operation will be this Sunday, 15 April at the Stromlo Cottage between 10am-2pm. The Cottage is situated on Noffs Crescent, Coombs. There are no ATM facilities at the Cottage so bring cash to get involved.
