Released 13/02/2019

The ACT Government has opened applications for the 2019 Audrey Fagan Board Traineeship Program following a great response and positive feedback from trainees and board participants following last year’s inaugural program.

Now in its second year, the program provides a unique opportunity for women in the ACT to gain skills and capabilities to participate on boards within the Territory. It combines a series of workshops on the fundamentals of board membership, and an associated mentoring program.

Each trainee is paired with a mentor who is an existing member of a board and also has the opportunity to be a non-participant observer in board meetings.

Boards and committees also benefit from increased diversity, fresh ideas and innovation, and the chance to provide a valuable opportunity to a member of the community.

If you are a board member, consider participating in the 2019 Audrey Fagan Board Traineeship Program. If you are a Canberra woman looking for opportunities, I would encourage you to apply.

The 2019 program will continue to support the ACT Government’s commitments of 50% female representation on ACT Government boards and committees; and 40% female representation on government funded sporting organisation boards by 2020.

Applications for trainees and expressions of interest for mentors and boards will close on 3 April 2019. Further information and details on how to apply can be found on the ACT Diversity Register at: Diversityregister.act.gov.au or at https://www.communityservices.act.gov.au/women/leadership-programs
