Outstanding achievements of Canberra’s year 10 students

Released 02/12/2019

Today the accomplishments of Canberra public school students in their final year of high school were celebrated at the Year 10 Excellence Awards.

The Year 10 Excellence Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the High School Years is the largest celebration of student achievement for Canberra public schools.

This year, 71 students across 24 public schools were presented with an award for their achievements. Nominated by their school, recipients were presented with one of three awards:

  • for being a successful learner
  • a confident and creative individual
  • an active and informed citizen

The awards represent many years of hard work, dedication, success and community service. The students recognised today were acknowledged for their commitment, academic excellence, creativity, sporting achievements or their contribution to the community.

The ACT Government is committed to providing every child and young person with a great education and it is great to see so many young people succeeding to such a high level. All the recipients should be very proud of their achievements.

I would also like to acknowledge the families, carers and friends, as well as the teachers and support staff for the invaluable support they provide to students.

Congratulations to each of the award winners. I wish you all the best and I look forward to hearing about your future successes.

*A list of the award recipients is available on request.
