Viking clap the Canberra Raiders to victory

Released 30/09/2019

The green machine has done it and Canberrans are preparing for a big weekend with the Raiders reaching the NRL Grand Final for the first time since 1994.

Territory excitement is high following an electric pre-liminary final game between the Canberra Raiders and the South Sydney Rabbitohs. It's great to see the community get behind the Raiders to support them all the way to the Grand Final.

To celebrate, the ACT Government is supporting a number of activities for families to deck themselves out in green and enjoy what is bound to be a thrilling match against the Sydney Roosters.

There will be several ways for Canberrans to get out and show their support for the Raiders:

  • The ACT Government will continue to light up Canberra green in support of the Raiders
  • GIO stadium will be open for Canberra Raiders members on Tuesday morning to come along for the final practice session
  • The community is invited to farewell the Raiders on Wednesday morning from 10:00am as they head to Sydney for the game. Come down and line Battye Street outside the Raiders HQ to Viking Clap the Raiders out of Canberra.
  • A family friendly community live showing of the Raiders game will be held on Sunday night at the Raiders Belconnen Oval, also known as the rectangular West Belconnen Oval at the Kippax District Playing Fields. Bring your picnic and rug and come down to be a part of the action from 6pm - get in early to get a good spot.

Let's Viking clap the Raiders to victory this weekend and cheer them on in the nation's capital - a celebration 25 years in the making.
