Year 10 students awarded for outstanding achievements

Released 04/12/2020

This week the achievements of Canberra's public school students in their final year of high school were celebrated at the Year 10 Excellence Awards.

This year, 72 students were presented with an award for their achievements. Nominated by their school, recipients were presented with one of three awards, for being:

  • a confident and creative individual
  • a successful lifelong learner
  • an active and informed member of the community.

As with many activities this year, things were a little different. The awards were split into two events. The southside event was held on Tuesday, with the northside event held Thursday. Parents and carers, principals and year level coordinators joined the award recipients to celebrate their achievements.

The Year 10 Excellence Awards represent many years of hard work, dedication, success and community service. The students recognised this week were acknowledged for their commitment, academic excellence, creativity, sporting achievements or their contribution to the community.

The ACT Government is committed to providing every child and young person with a great education and it is great to see so many young people succeeding to such a high level. All the recipients should be very proud of their achievements.

I would also like to acknowledge the families, carers and friends, as well as the teachers and support staff for the invaluable support they provide to students.

Congratulations to each of the award winners. I wish you all the best and I look forward to hearing about your future successes.
