Cabinet (the Government Business Subcommittee) agreed the Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence make a statement in the Legislative Assembly. The ACT Government made a commitment to deliver an annual Safer Families Statement. The 2018 Safer Families Ministerial Statement is the second such statement.

Ministerial Statement - Apprenticeships and Traineeships in the ACT in Response to Standing Committee Recommendation

Stock Amendment Bill 2018

Cabinet (the Government Business Subcommittee) agreed the Minister for Planning and Land Management present the Stock Amendment Bill 2018 in the Legislative Assembly. The Bill proposes amendments to the Stock Act 2005 (the Act) to provide the Director-General, Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate with more flexible options for dealing with impounded stock and to clarify provisions about permits for moving stock by foot.

The Triple Bottom Line Assessment was considered by Cabinet on 27 March 2018 (18/10/CAB – Stock Amendment Bill – policy approval) as part of the policy approval.

Animal Diseases Amendment Bill 2018

Cabinet (the Government Business Subcommittee) agreed the Minister for The Environment and Heritage present the Animal Diseases Amendment Bill 2018 in the Legislative Assembly. The aim of the proposed bill is to update the current legislation to provide a better framework to help to identify and manage biosecurity risks in the ACT. These changes are needed to implement the Nationally Agreed Traceability Performance Standards endorsed by the Primary Industries Ministerial Council (PIMC).

Prostitution Amendment Bill 2018

Cabinet (the Government Business Subcommittee) agreed the Minister for Justice, Consumer Affairs and Road Safety present the Prostitution Amendment Bill 2018 in the Legislative Assembly. If passed, the Bill will rename the Prostitution Act 1992 and implement a number of reforms arising from the 2010 Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety’s Inquiry into the Prostitution Act.

Senior Practitioner Bill 2018

Cabinet agreed that the Minister for Disability, Children and Youth present the Senior Practitioner Bill 2018 in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

Work Health and Safety Amendment Bill 2018

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Workplace Safety and Industrial Relations present the Work Health and Safety Amendment Bill 2018 in the ACT Legislative Assembly. The amendments in the Bill are aimed at facilitating meaningful consultation between employers and workers with regards to safety on ACT construction sites.
