The ACT’s Transition to Zero Emissions Vehicles

Cabinet agreed to release ‘The ACT’s transition to zero emissions vehicles – Action Plan 2018-2020’. The action plan outlines the actions that Government will take to encourage the uptake of zero emissions vehicles, including electric cars and electric bikes, to 2020.

Waste Management and Resource Recovery Amendment Bill 2018 – combined pass

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Transport and City Services present the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Amendment Bill 2018 (the Bill) to make a minor amendment to the commencement provisions for the Territory’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) to commence in mid-2018. In accordance with the Cabinet Handbook, a triple bottom line assessment was not conducted for this Amendment Bill as the amendment is minor and technical in nature.
Station Upgrade and Relocation Program – Revised Priorities and Activities

Cabinet agreed to revised priorities for the ACT Emergency Service Agency’s Station Upgrade and Relocation Station, which will guide the establishment and upgrade of the ACT’s emergency services facilities across the ACT over the next decade.

Planning, Building and Environment Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 – combined pass

Cabinet agreed the Minister for the Environment and Heritage present the Planning, Building and Environment Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 in the April 2018 sitting period. The Bill makes minor policy and technical amendments to legislation administered by the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate.
In accordance with the Cabinet Handbook, a triple bottom line assessment was not conducted for this Amendment Bill as the amendment is minor and technical in nature.

Land Tax Amendment Bill 2018 – agreement to introduce

Cabinet agreed the Treasurer present the Land Tax Amendment Bill 2018 in the April 2018 sitting period. Amendments to the Land Tax Act 2004 change the model of land tax from a ‘rented’ model to a ‘non principal place of residence’ model; and introduce a foreign ownership surcharge.
