Acton tunnel repairs to continue this month

Released 01/01/2018

Final works to permanently repair Acton Tunnel will continue until the third week of October 2016. Completion of the repair work has been delayed due to the recent inclement weather.

This final stage of works will require temporary lane closures on Parkes Way westbound around the tunnel itself between 7 am and 2.30 pm daily until Friday 21 October 2016.

A minimum of one lane will remain open at any time. Traffic will be allowed to pass through the tunnel heading westbound along Parkes Way, but delays are expected. Motorists and other road users should consider an alternative route where possible.

Work to safely remove and dispose of the damaged panels in the tunnel is complete. The upcoming temporary lane closures will allow for the installation of new panels and warning signage in the tunnel.

This work is necessary to finalise repairs following the damage caused to the Acton tunnel in October 2015.

Barriers, warning and diversion signs will be erected to alert people of the closure.
