Lane closures at the Federal Highway interchange

Released 01/01/2018

Road works will commence at the Federal Highway and Horse Park Drive/Majura Parkway interchange on Monday 17 October 2016 with lane closures in place. Motorists should expect some short delays during these works.

The closures are to allow for devices to be installed which are used to monitor commercial traffic usage. We collect this information so that the loads carried by these vehicles do not damage road pavements or bridges. This information is also used to develop future maintenance programs.

Initial works will take place on the Federal Highway southbound ramps from Monday 17 to Monday 31 October 2016 (weather permitting).

The southbound off ramp onto the Majura Parkway will be closed between 9.30 am and 6 pm over four days in this period. Detour signs will direct motorists to turn left at the Majura Parkway traffic signals.

The citybound on ramp from the Majura Parkway will be reduced to a single lane for up to 10 days in this period.

Barriers, warning and diversion signs will be erected to alert people to the closures.

A reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place during the work as well as the week following the works to help protect the device installed.

Following installation of the devices at these sites works will continue on:

  • Horse Park Drive westbound at the Federal Highway overpass
  • Horse Park Drive eastbound at the Federal Highway overpass
  • the Federal Highway northbound on ramp from Horse Park Drive
  • the Federal Highway northbound departing the interchange
  • the Federal Highway southbound approaching the interchange.
