The new What’s On program at Libraries ACT is packed with a variety of ways to keep members of all ages entertained and to inspire learning and development throughout the spring season.
“Every day is a day for something new at your local library. There are a variety of programs to benefit your health and lifestyle, keep you up-to-date with technology and even help strengthen your writing skills,” Director, Libraries ACT, Vanessa Little said.
“Now the warmer weather is with us, dust off the bike and learn the basics of bicycle maintenance with CycleJam or get some gardening tips to help make your garden one of the best in the street.
“Discover how to make the perfect pasta at home at a pasta making demonstration with Hilda Inglese, author of ‘Wow! It’s Italian’. Readers can also meet author Sallyanne Pisk at another of the library’s regular Meet the Author talks which provide a great Q & A experience.
“For the budding writers, you can also take a writing workshop and pick up new tips from the ACT Writers Centre.”
Bookings for school holiday programs are filling up fast and Ms Little encouraged parents and students to enrol early.
“Discover the world of the stick insect, how to create stop animation, draw a self portrait or take a live-streamed virtual tour of the National Portrait Gallery,” Ms Little said.
“The growing world of 3D printing is featured with children exploring their creative side with 3Doodlers that let you ‘draw in the air’ or families can get all hands on deck at sea with pirate story time and dress up.
“A popular choice for children during this term is the Lego Brick Club with Lego creations built and then left on display at the library for all to enjoy,” Ms Little concluded.
