Three foot bridges have been temporarily closed in Umbagong District Park in Latham on public safety grounds.

Routine safety inspections are undertaken across all our parks in the ACT to identify assets that require maintenance or replacement.

A routine inspection was undertaken at Umbagong District Park in Latham to check the condition of the bridges. This inspection identified three foot bridges in the park that were potentially unsafe, mainly due to deterioration in the timber. Following the inspection, the three bridges have been closed for public safety.

We are aware the park is an important recreational space for the community and that the paths are well-utilised. We are working on an approach to make sure the three foot bridges are safe and access is maintained for the community.

We will keep the community updated on the bridge works as it progresses.
