Helping the community sector to get better workers' compensation outcomes

Released 01/01/2018

A free seminar being held tomorrow to offer basic advice on managing workers' compensation has the potential to save the community sector significant amounts of money.
The ACT Government and ACTCOSS are jointly hosting a two-hour seminar which will feature free, expert advice.
It can sometimes be hard for busy community sector organisations to get on top of issues such as workers' compensation, but by working closely with the insurance sector there are steps that can result in significant savings for organisations.
The advice will cover the scheme that operates in the ACT, and also address the practical steps that organisation can take to make a difference to workers' compensation bills.
There will also be advice on what organisations can do in the longer term to ensure that once workers compensation premiums come down, they stay down.
This forum is as a result of our community sector reform program that, among other things, aims to support the community sector to focus on ensuring sustainable business models into the future and allow them to direct more of their resources to supporting the community rather than in red tape, administration and other business costs.
