Congratulations to the winners of the Canberra Region Tourism Awards 2022, announced at a Parliament House tonight.
Canberra’s tourism industry offers an amazing breadth of experiences, and this is clearly evident when you look at the winners of this year’s awards.
In 2022, the tourism sector has seen a significant rebound, with a strong calendar of events driving visitor numbers back to the nation’s capital.
Our tourism, events and hospitality industries contribute significantly to the ACT economy, and these awards recognise the hard work and commitment from so many people.
Congratulations to local favourites the National Zoo and Aquarium and National Arboretum Canberra, who took out the Major Tourist Attractions and Tourist Attractions categories.
Enlighten was announced as the winner of the Festivals and Events category for what was an amazing event earlier this year.
Jamala Wildlife Lodge took home two awards, for Unique Accommodation and Tourism Restaurants and Catering Services.
The Excellence in Food Tourism award went to Pialligo Estate, and Deluxe Accommodate (4-4.5 stars) went to Little National Hotel.
The Canberra Region Visitors Centre won the Visitor Information Service category, and the Royal Australian Mint was awarded the Cultural Tourism Award.
Congratulations also to Dynamic Motivation Mountain Biking (Adventure Tourism), Tallagandra Hill Winery (Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries) and Alivio Tourist Park (Caravan and Holiday Parks) who were all recognised at tonight’s awards.
Winners from each of the 12 categories will go on to represent our region at the Australian Tourism Awards being held in Sydney in March 2023.
Mark Sarah from Cockington Green Garden was recognised for his service to the tourism industry through the Outstanding Contribution by an Individual award. Mark has been a stalwart of the tourism sector here in the Canberra Region for over 40 years and has worked tirelessly on behalf of the whole industry providing vital support and leadership.
