Access Canberra holiday trading hours

Released 03/12/2021

As Canberrans prepare for a well-deserved Christmas break, the ACT Government is reminding the community about holiday hours for Access Canberra Service Centres and shopfronts.

From Monday 20 December 2021 to Friday 24 December 2021, there will be two Service Centres open to the public in Gungahlin and Tuggeranong. All Service Centres will be closed between 25 December 2021 and 3 January 2022. The Gungahlin and Tuggeranong Service Centres will re-open on 4 January through to 7 January 2022, while the remainder of Service Centres and shopfronts will re-open across the Territory on Monday 10 January 2022.

The Access Canberra Contact Centre (13 22 81) will continue to take calls.

With many ACT Government services closed or on reduced hours during the holiday period, there has never been a better time to complete your services and transactions online.

You only need to visit an Access Canberra Service Centre for transactions that need to be undertaken in person. These are registrations that require a photo, for example a new driver’s licence, proof of identity, for a Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card, or to arrange new number plates for new registrations or custom plates.

All other Access Canberra transactions can be completed online, including:

  • Motor vehicle registration and renewal
  • MyWay card recharge
  • Fix My Street applications
  • Applying for birth, death, or marriage certificates
  • Park and Ride permit applications.

Canberrans should call Access Canberra on 13 22 81 if they need assistance with any transaction, or have any difficulties in completing an online transaction.

Canberrans are reminded to prepare ahead of time by visiting their local Service Centre or shopfront to avoid the rush or reduced operating hours over the Christmas period.

Other ACT Government services will be closed or have restricted opening hours during the festive season.
