Attorney-General Tara Cheyne today announced the appointment of Theresa Warwick as a new presidential member of the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT). Ms Warwick will start her 7-year appointment on 1 April.
With nearly 25 years of experience at the private bar, Ms Warwick brings extensive expertise in criminal law and a strong background in tribunal work to ACAT. She has been serving as an acting sessional presidential member of the tribunal since June 2024.
Ms Warwick’s career spans various roles within the ACT legal system, including:
- Deputy-Chair of the Sentence Administration Board (since May 2023)
- Senior Member of ACAT (2020-24)
- Special Magistrate (2019-2020)
- Ordinary Member of ACAT (2017-20)
Her experience as an arbiter also extends to the sporting arena as a respected judge and referee for Boxing ACT, for which she served as the organisation’s president from 2015 to 2020.
