ACT Policing launch online reporting

Released 07/07/2023

Today ACT Policing launch the online reporting portal. This service will provide an additional way for Canberrans to report certain incidents, submit requests and provide information to police.

This will allow for minor, non-urgent incidents to be reported online, as opposed to an urgent phone call being placed.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Mick Gentleman MLA said the important project will allow for responses to be adapted and was a result of collaborative work between ACT Policing and the ACT Government.

“This portal will allow for resources to be directed to where needed. We listened to the community and the needs of policing, and this portal is a direct result of this.

“It is great that we can continue to adapt the delivery model and allow for new and innovative ways to be embedded within the service.

“ACT Policing heard from community members via forums and feedback on the soft launch of the tool as to how this portal can best serve those needing to report.

“This is another example of how police here in the ACT are receptive to community needs and continue to work with the Government to help Canberrans.

Online reporting is an additional method of reporting, which will complement existing channels.

People can still report non-urgent matters to 131 444 or by attending a police station. In an emergency or life-threatening situation, always call Triple Zero (000).

Chief Police Officer for the ACT, Deputy Commissioner Neil Gaughan said online reporting will see benefits for both the community and police.

“Online reporting will provide the community with greater choice and more convenience to report non-urgent property damage and vandalism incidents to police,” Deputy Commissioner Gaughan said.

“Harnessing the power of digitisation and technology will also facilitate better decision making by ACT Policing in the assessment, triage, and dispatch of our resources.

“Enabling this reporting to be done online will free up our call takers to respond to more serious, time-critical matters, allowing us to serve the community more efficiently.

“I want to emphasise this – if it’s happened, report online; if it’s happening, call 131 444, or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.

“I also want to assure the community they will receive the same level of service from ACT Policing, however they choose to report an incident.”
