West Belconnen Child and Family Centre turns 10!

Released 19/05/2021

Today I joined  children, families and staff to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the West  Belconnen Child and Family Centre.

The service opened in 2011 with the aim of providing families with early  intervention services and parenting support in West Belconnen, with a  particular focus on support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.

Over the past ten years, thousands of West Belconnen families have  received service and support either directly from the West Belconnen Child and  Family Centre staff, or from the number of other government and non-government  partner agencies that have operated from the centre.

We know that the early years in a child’s life are vital and Child and  Family Centre staff engage and work with the children and families who require  additional supports at the earliest time possible.

I’m really proud of the ACT Government’s commitment to supporting and  investing in the families of this community.
Thank you to current and former staff, in particular the first Centre  Director and respected Aboriginal woman Shona Chapman who have helped build the  richness of support available to the West Belconnen community

Quotes attributable to Brian  Mupangure, Manager of West Belconnen Child and Family Centre:

“The West Belconnen Child and Family Centre has been very much a part of  the ACT community over the past 10 years. Our comprehensive suite of services,  and the Centre’s welcoming atmosphere here in Holt, has ensured that local  families can easily access a range of programs tailored to their needs.”
